Prayas School Students cleared JEE, got admission in IITs
Meritorious students of Prayas shares their experiences with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel

Studying in IIT (BHU), Varanasi--one of the premier engineering institutes in India was a dream for Mr. Tarun Kumar Paikra, hailing from Bamlaya village of Surguja district. He grew up in a farmer's family, where education was not considered a priority.
But Paikra always dreamt of achieving big in life rather than just being confined to farms of his village. All he needed was a suitable platform and proper guidance, which he found in state-government-run Prayas Residential School.
"I joined Prayas in class 9 where my teachers motivated and guided me to pursue my childhood dream of studying in an institute that taught the nation's brightest minds. I qualified for the national level examination National Talent Search Examination in class 9th and 10th. These not only strengthened my basics but also boosted my self-confidence. I started preparing for JEE here. Continuous guidance of my teachers and healthy competition with my classmates made it possible for me to turn my dream into reality", said Mr. Paikra while interacting with Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel in the Students Award Ceremony of Late Rajiv Gandhi Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Prayas Residential School. Mr. Paikra is currently pursuing electronics engineering from IIT (BHU), Varanasi.
This is not just it; Prayas Residential Schools--started by the state government with an aim to provide quality education and ensure all-round development of the students of Naxal affected areas--are breathing life into the dreams of many such children like Mr. Tarun. With their hard work and dedication, students of Prayas Residential Schools are cracking JEE and NEET, considered as the toughest entrance tests in India. These tribal children are not only proving to be an inspiration for others but are also glorifying the name of Chhattisgarh across the country.
Another example is of Miss Jagriti Kanwar of Rajnandgaon district, studying in IIT Patna. Sharing her experience at the function she said "I was homesick in my initial days of joining Prayas. However, I am glad I found a new and very big loving family here and an environment that feels like home. I focused on my preparations for cracking engineering entrance exams and got this success with the guidance of my teachers."
Miss Lisha Netam, a student of IIT (BHU) Varanasi, who was among those felicitated at the programme, said that both my parents are teachers who always motivated me to study from the start. However, adequate facilities were not available in Kondagaon. She then cracked the entrance of Prayas and got admission to Prayas Girls Residential School, Gudhiyari in Raipur. She said that the school has a very good environment for studying, which made it possible for her to crack such a tough exam.
Mr. Dhananjay Dhruv of Dhamtari district studying in the Electrical Engineering branch at IIT Bhilai said that all the necessary guidance is provided in this institution for engineering and medical entrance exams. He told that his elder sister has also studied in this institution. The healthy competition environment among classmates has contributed a lot to his success.
Mr. Lulas Kumar of Rajnandgaon district, studying in the Mathematics and Computing branch at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad shared that he was always interested in Mathematics and wanted to be an engineer since his childhood days. He studied up to class 8th only in Padguda Village of Chhuriya Tehsil. "I jumped out of excitement when I came to know about my selection in Prayas as there was no high school in our village and I was longing to study engineering. It was a turning point in my life as well as my career. With the support of teachers and my classmates, I got admission to IIT", he said.
He expressed his gratitude to the Chhattisgarh government for the better operation of Prayas schools and facilities being provided to the talented students.
Miss Devika Uike of Antagarh in Kanker district said that she got 90 per cent marks in the 12th board examination and is studying in NIT Raipur. Similarly, Mr. Manish Kumar Raote, resident of village Pathratola of Balod district, has secured 94.2 per cent marks in the 12th board examination and is currently studying in IIT BHU. Mr. Aditya Yadav, resident of village Podi of Lakhanpur block of Surguja district has secured 92 per cent marks in the 12th examination and is currently studying in IIT BHU. Mr. Praveen Kumar Chandravanshi, a resident of village Katkona of Surguja district, has secured 91.2 per cent marks in the 12th board examination and is studying in IIT BHU. Mr. Rudrapratap Devangan, a resident of village Mahud of Gundardehi block of Balod district, got 88.8 per cent marks in the 12th board examination and is currently studying in IIT ISM Dhanbad.
